sugar and spice and all things…

homemade

I first worked with Uli Schade on a story for Elle Decoration magazine and we just clicked straight away and went on to shoot some of my favourite photo stories. We got together again recently to shoot this little homemade edible gifts story. Food is a little bit of a departure for me but combining it with decoration as gifts and ideas for your table was fun, especially with Christmas not too far away.

When my graphic designer husband saw the photos he thought it was perfect to try something different to make the most of their high quality. He had been wanting to try out issuu.com for a while and suggested we try them as a little digital magazine booklet rather than a normal blog post. So we gave it a go, jotted down the recipes and some words and let him design it.

It’s a bit of fun but hopefully it will inspire you to try making some edible gifts for your friends and family this Christmas.

Who knows, if you like it we may do it again. What do you think? We would love to hear. And if you like it please share the link!

Oh Sania! You can created a little treasure here. Thankyou so much for your generosity. And the photos and styling are divine. Yummo! I like using Issu although I wish they had a ‘save’ button so you could download it. But that’s my only quibble – otherwise it is such a clean and user-friendly option. Well done! J x

Beautiful! Very well done! I love this idea of a mini-mag. I don’t often look at the online magazines as I find the 100+ page issues too much to flip through, so this was the perfect amount for me! I might be in the minority here…but I thought I’d share my thoughts. Very inspiring too!

  5. Wow, that looks yummy and very stylish, as usual! What a great idea! xx

  13. Looks great! Beautiful photos and the magazine style was very interesting to read, I didn’t know about issuu. Off to make vanilla sugar now 🙂

I agree with all the comments above – I enjoyed looking through your booklet and do think you should make more in the future. I often make vanilla sugar for Christmas presents – they are always well received. Spiced salt is also another favourite. I think people appreciate homemade food gifts as it’s lovely to know that someone has thought of you and taken the time to show it.
