We have been planning and looking forward to this family adventure for well over a year. When good friends told us that they was moving to Sydney from London, rather than being sad that we were losing them to the other side of the world, we decided to embrace the fact and plan a visit to see them. The time is fast approaching and we will be there soon. I visited Sydney many years ago and love its cafe and beach lifestyle. I am excited by the art, craft and interiors scene in Australia and hope to be able to explore the city and visit some of the places I have been viewing from afar. We will also be exploring up the eastern coast and stopping in Singapore on the way home for some more cultural inspiration. I am sure I will take lots of photos to share when I return.
If you have any recommendations of places to see and things to do please leave a comment!
Have a happy Easter and see you in a while.

i know you’ll have a glorious adventure, can’t wait to hear about it. xx
Oh Sania, I’m an Aussie girl who can guarantee you and your family will have a fabulous time here in Australia. I’m at Noosa which is a fair distance away from Sydney, closer to Brisbane actually but if your planning to travel throughout our great country it is definitely worth a visit. We are also not far from The Irwin family’s Australia Zoo (the best zoo in Australia ). For some great photos of Noosa you can check out my blog http://www.myoceanbliss.com. Anyway whatever you do, you’ll have the best family holiday ever so enjoy!
Bon voyage Sania!

Make sure to check out the iconic opera house, of course. The botanic gardens are a must! Also visit the Darling Harbour Chinese Garden of Friendship. Enjoy the rest of the East Coast as well, there are many beautiful places along the coast. Enjoy your trip!
Oh, and in Singapore visit the Zoo, it was great. My husband and i spent a whole day there, starting off with breakfast with the Orangutangs. visit little india too (and stop into some of the temples).Have fun!
Hi Sania. My husband gave me The Homemade Home for Children for Christmas and that, in turn, led me to your blog.
We stopped off in Singapore and Sydney when we moved from the UK to New Zealand 7 years ago. Whenever I smell Jasmine it takes me right back to Singapore. I remember stepping out of the airport and the humidity felt as if you were being wrapped up in a wet, warm blanket. It smelt like heady, hot jasmine. Anyway, In both Singapore and Sydney, I made a beeline for the Japanese book store called Kinokuniya. It has the most amazing selection of Japanese craft books. A must for creatives everywhere!
Happy travelling!
I hope you get a chance to visit Calico & Ivy in Balmain (www.calicoandivy.com) and Material Obsessions in Drummoyne (www.materialobsession.com.au), perfect shops for crafty you! Enjoy your time in Australia.
We’re back from our family adventure! Thank you all for your kind wishes and great advice, we managed to pack in loads of the sights in Sydney while we were away, but there was still so much more to see we could have done with another three weeks away!
@Kate next time we will visit Balmain, I’ve heard many great things about the area.
@Heather, we headed straight up to Cairns from Sydney and stayed in Port Douglas, but would have loved to have visited Noosa – it is on my list for our next trip!
@LaToya, the Singapore Zoo was fun, we went on the night safari. Breakfast with the orangutans sounds great though. The temples in the city were just beautiful.
@Alison, thank you for the advice, we found Kinokuniya in Singapore and spent ages in there. I bought a couple of great craft books there, great tip!
